1. A shielded signal coupler for transferring electromagnetic energy between a signal circuit and an antenna upstanding from a ground-plane surface, the coupler comprising:

  • Shield means having electrically conductive walls defining a closed chamber, including end portions defining a first opening adapted to admit the antenna;

    means for electrically connecting said walls adjacent the first opening with the surface;

    coupling means disposed within the chamber in isolated relation with the walls and antenna and in coaxial, energy transferring relation with the antenna, said energy being shielded by an outer conductor of the coupling means and confined between the outer conductor and the antenna; and

    signal conduction means for communicating the energy between said circuit and the coupling means through a second opening in said walls.
