1. A method of transducing information with respect to a record card comprising:
- feeding a magnetic record card containing image information recordings extending along parallel tracks of said card in a flat condition into a card reading device, automatically arcuately deforming said record card as it is fed through said card reading device, rotating a magnetic transducing means in a first direction against the surface of the arcuately deformed record card while effecting relative movement between said record card and said rotating transducing means in a second direction in a manner to cause said transducing means to scan consecutive record tracks of said record card which tracks extend transverse to the longitudinal axis of the card, andoperating said magnetic transducing means as it scans selected tracks of said record card in a manner to cause said transducing means to generate signals on its output, which signals are representative of the recordings provide on the selected tracks so scanned to the exclusion of information recorded on the other tracks of the card and passing the signals generated in scanning said selected tracks to a signal processing means, and applying said signals to modulate an image generating means to generate an image representative of selected information recorded on said card.

Abstract
An apparatus and method are provided for transducing information with respect to record cards such as oblong cards containing magnetic recording material. In one form, a magnetic record card is made to conform or extend parallel to the cylindrical surface of a drum supporting a magnetic transducer which rotates to scan one or more selected tracks of the card. The card may extend in a circular or helical path while scanning occurs or may be driven in such a path during scanning.

1. A method of transducing information with respect to a record card comprising:
-
feeding a magnetic record card containing image information recordings extending along parallel tracks of said card in a flat condition into a card reading device, automatically arcuately deforming said record card as it is fed through said card reading device, rotating a magnetic transducing means in a first direction against the surface of the arcuately deformed record card while effecting relative movement between said record card and said rotating transducing means in a second direction in a manner to cause said transducing means to scan consecutive record tracks of said record card which tracks extend transverse to the longitudinal axis of the card, and operating said magnetic transducing means as it scans selected tracks of said record card in a manner to cause said transducing means to generate signals on its output, which signals are representative of the recordings provide on the selected tracks so scanned to the exclusion of information recorded on the other tracks of the card and passing the signals generated in scanning said selected tracks to a signal processing means, and applying said signals to modulate an image generating means to generate an image representative of selected information recorded on said card. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)

8. A method of transducing information with respect to a record card comprising:
-
feeding a magnetic record card containing information recorded as document signals on transverse tracks of said card to a card reading device, automatically arcuately deforming said magnetic record card as it is fed to make it conform to a portion of the surface of a drum and driving said card longitudinally past the peripheral surface of said drum while power rotating said drum at constant speed, scanning transverse tracks of said card with a plurality of magnetic transducers supported by said drum as said drum rotates and causing said transducers to be modulated by said signals recorded on said transverse tracks of said card to generate output signals which are representative of the signals recorded on said card, and passing said output signals generated in scanning selected tracks of said record card to an image generating means and applying said output signals to modulate said image generating means and generating an image by means of said image generating means which image is representative of the document signals reproduced from the card.
