1. An identity card comprising at least one outer transparent thermoplastic cover layer formed of thermoplastic polymeric material laminated to a thermoplastic polymeric material core;

  • said card carrying at suitable points information serving to identity the cardholder and security markings for protecting against forgeries;

    said core further comprising a perforated reinforcing support layer which is dimensionally stable under the conditions used to laminate the thermoplastic polymeric material and permeable to the thermoplastic polymer of the core, wherein marginal areas of the support layer are more heavily perforated than a central area of the support layer.
