1. In an electronic timepiece of the type having a frequency dividing circuit;

  • and a drive circuit for normally applying effective power for driving a motor having a rotor, a stator and a driving coil, the improvement comprising;

    detecting means operable to detect an external alternating magnetic field including a coil for developing therein an induced voltage when said coil is placed in an external alternating magnetic field and for producing a detection output signal in response to detection of an alternating magnetic field strength higher than a predetermined magnetic field strength; and

    control circuit means for effecting the application of an effective power to said driving coil different from the effective power normally applied to said driving coil in response to the detection output signal.
