1. A method for determining β
-
2 -microglobulin concentration in a human urine or serum sample comprising the steps of;
(a) coating latex particles with an antibody against the β
2 -microglobulin;
(b) incubating the antibody-coated particles diluted in a stabilizing solution with the sample so as to permit the β
2 -microglobulin to agglutinate a proportion of the particles, said proportion being related to the concentration of β
2 -microglobulin in the sample; and
(c) quantitating the unagglutinated particles and thereby determining the β
2 -microglobulin concentration in the sample.

Abstract
A highly sensitive method has been developed for the determination of β2 -microglobulin in human urine or serum samples. This method is based on the agglutination of β2 -microglobulin by latex particles coated with an anti-body against β2 -microglobulin in a stabilizing solution.
