1. The method of producing a closure for sealing the threaded neck of a container comprising the steps ofproviding a base sheet of thermoformed plastic material of substantially uniform thickness;

  • providing a sheet of compressible thermoplastic rubber thermoformable liner material adjacent said base sheet, said sheet of liner material also being of substantially uniform thickness throughout and being more resilient than the plastic base material,subjecting the liner material to ultraviolet light to reduce its coefficient of friction,bonding the sheet of liner material to the sheet of base material, andthermoforming said base sheet and said sheet of liner material as a unit to produce a closure having a top wall and a skirt wall with threaded fastening means thereon depending therefrom in which the plastic material of the base sheet is on the outside of the closure and in which the liner material is permanently bonded to the base sheet over the entire inside area of the closure.
