An aqueous dispersion of a finely-divided, inorganic or non-ionic, organic solid selected from the groups consisting of disperse dyestuffs, pigments, optical brightening agents and anthraquinone, containing a water-soluble, non-ionic dispersing agent which comprises naphthalene carrying, in the alpha or the beta position, a water-solubilising poly(C2 to C4 alkyleneoxy) chain containing from 5 to 15 C2 to C4 alkyleneoxy groups and otherwise free from substituents.
