A cosmetic makeup composition consisting essentially of a homogenous mixture of from 10 to 90% by weight of finely divided, fibroin-coated, pigment particles and finely divided, oily material-coated, pigment particles, said fibroin-coated, pigment particles consisting essentially of first carrier pigment particles each substantially uniformly coated with a film of regenerated fibroin wherein the amount of said regenerated fibroin is from 2 to 100% by weight based on the weight of said first carrier pigment particles, at least 50% by weight of said regenerated fibroin consisting of hot-water-insoluble fibroin having the β
