Cable sleeve with an entrance socket of shrinkable material
First Claim
1. In a cable sleeve having a longitudinally extending joint and a cable entrance socket at each end of the sleeve, said cable entrance socket consisting of a shrinkable material and receiving a liner element having an axis and having external axially extending recesses for receiving portions of the cables being introduced into the cable entrance socket, and said socket having sealing material for forming a seal between the material of the socket and sheath of the cable engaged by the cable entrance socket, the improvements comprising the liner element consisting of a thermo-plastic, cross-linked material, said element having a shape memory and being shrinkable toward a previous shape when subjected to a shrinking process.

Abstract
An improved sealing element for a cable entrance socket of a cable sleeve characterized by the element being a liner element of a thermoplastic, cross-linked material having a shape memory and being shrinkable to a previous shape when subjected to a shrinking process. The liner element may be either a solid member or a cup-shaped hollow member and may have two or more axially extending, outwardly opening recesses for receiving cables.

- 24. In a cable sleeve having a longitudinally extending joint and a cable entrance socket at each end of the sleeve for the introduction of cables into the interior of the sleeve, each socket receiving a sealing element for sealing the space between the cables inserted therein, said socket and sealing element being of a heat shrinkable material the improvements comprising the sealing element being a hollow liner element having at least three interconnected axially extending side walls and being interconnected by a transverse terminating wall extending at substantially right angles to said axial direction to form at least one cup-shaped cavity, some of said side walls being shaped to provide an axial extending outwardly opening recess for each of the cables, said hollow cupshaped liner element being a thermoplastic, cross-linked material, having a shape memory and being heat shrinkable to the previous shape when subjected to a heat shrinking process.
- 36. An initial part for manufacturing a liner element for a cable sleeve, said liner part being utilized in a cable introduction socket to seal at least two cables in said socket, said part being a hollow member of a thermo-plastic material being capable of being cross-linked to retain a shape memory, said hollow member having axially extending side walls and a terminating wall extending transverse to the axial direction to form at least one cup shape cavity.
