1. In an identification card or similar data carrier comprising a card body having an opening therein;

  • an IC module for the processing of electrical signals;

    leads extending from said module, and contacts disposed on said leads;

    a carrier supportably engaging said IC module and disposed in the opening in the identification card body, the improvement comprising at least one readily flexible anchoring element having a high tensile strength and being of little thickness relative to the thickness of said identification card;

    said anchoring element being located adjacent to the carrier periphery and connecting said identification card body with said carrier.
