1. A method of cleansing an object comprising the steps of:
- a. storing a cleansing fluid in a tank,b. circulating said stored cleansing fluid in a path within a lavage device from said tank to a location for cleansing an object and from said location to said tank,c. gradually and cyclically varying the pressure of said fluid from a maximum to a minimum pressure to reduce noise during operation of the device and facilitate cleansing, said minimum pressure being greater than zero pressure,d. discharging said fluid under said gradually and cyclically varying pressure against an object to be cleansed, ande. providing a fluid flow restrictive means in said circulation path for gradually and cyclically varying the pressure of said cleansing fluid during operation of said lavage device.

Abstract
An item is cleaned in a portable lavage device comprising a moveable tank for holding a cleansing liquid, a pump and flow restricting mechanism coupled to the tank for circulating the cleansing liquid under a pressure which gradually and cyclically varies from a maximum to a minimum pressure greater than zero to reduce noise during operation of the device, and spaced nozzles coupled to the circulating pump and flow restricting mechanism and arranged to spray the cleansing liquid under varying pressure against an item to be cleaned.
This is a division of application Ser. No. 248,510, filed Mar. 27, 1981, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,402,331.

11. A method of cleansing objects comprising the steps of:
-
a. storing a cleaning liquid in a portable tank having a top cover with an orifice therein, b. providing first and second housing assemblies having a common wall extending from the top toward the bottom a partial distance, said housing assemblies being mounted on top of said portable tank and having front, back and side walls, c. mounting a hand and arm washing unit in each of said housing assemblies, d. coupling a fluid pump to said washing units and said tank for circulating the cleansing fluid in said tank to and from said hand and arm washing units, said fluid pump circulating the cleansing fluid under varying pressure which cyclically varies from a maximum to a minimum where the minimum pressure is greater than zero pressure, e. coupling a foot actuated switch to said fluid pump for operating said pump, f. coupling a timer to said pump and said foot actuated switch for enabling said pump to operate for a predetermined period of time once it is actuated, and g. mounting a flexible seal in the front wall of each of said housing assemblies through which the hands and the arms of the user may be inserted for cleansing. - View Dependent Claims (12)

13. A method of cleansing objects comprising the steps of:
-
a. containing a cleansing fluid in a portable tank, b. providing a cleansing unit for receiving said fluid and receiving an object to be cleansed, c. circulating, said cleansing fluid in a path under varying pressure within a lavage device from said tank via a pump to and from said cleansing unit for cleansing objects placed therein, said varying pressure gradually and cylically varying from a maximum to a minimum where the minimum pressure is greater than zero pressure, said fluid pressure varying without pulsating to reduce noise during operation of the device and to facilitate cleansing of said objects, and d. providing a fluid flow restrictive means in said circulation path and interconnected between said cleansing unit and said pump for gradually and cyclically varying the pressure of said cleansing fluid during operation of said lavage device. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)

14. A method as in c1aim 13 further comprising the steps of:
-
a. providing a housing assembly having a top, back and side walls and a bottom wall formed by said portable tank, b. mounting said cleansing unit in the form of a plurality of parallel, horizontal, hollow tubes in said housing assembly in a spaced circular pattern when viewed from the end of said tubes, each of said tubes having a portion of one end thereof curved inwardly toward the center axis of said circular pattern, c. receiving fluid from said tank through a circular manifold having an inlet and a plurality of outlets extending upwardly and outwardly from the center axis thereof, said circular manifold being mounted in said housing back wall and having a smaller diameter than said circular pattern of said hollow tubes, d. connecting said manifold outlets to corresponding ones of said curved end portions of said spaced hollow tubes, and e. spraying said liquid toward the center of said circular pattern through a plurality of spaced nozzles on each of said hollow tubes.

21. A method of cleansing body, hands and arms comprising the steps of:
-
a. storing a cleansing fluid in a tank having an opening through which said fluid may be placed in said tank, b. providing first and second housing assemblies having a common wall extending in a direction from the top toward the bottom a partial distance, said housing assemblies being mounted on said tank, c. mounting a hand and arm washing unit in each of said housing assemblies, d. circulating the cleansing fluid in said tank to said washing units under varying pressure which gradually varies from a maximum to a minimum where the minimum pressure is greater than zero pressure, e. controlling the time of duration of circulating said fluid, and f. mounting a flexible seal in a vertical wall of each of said housing assemblies through which the hands and arms of the user may be inserted for cleansing for preventing said fluid from escaping from said housing assemblies during cleansing of said hand and arm.
