1. A method for detecting the concentration of a component in a solution, comprising the steps ofplacing one of a first liquid and a second liquid containing a component soluble in said first liquid in a closed container having a partition formed at least partially by porous material having small through pores and having a critical surface tension which is lower than a surface tension of said first liquid when said component in said second liquid is dissolved therein, positioning the other of said first and second liquids outwardly of, and in contact with said partition formed by said porous material, detecting as a rate of pressure change in said closed container a rate of the mass transfer occurring between said first and second liquids through said partition of said porous material, anddetermining the concentration of said component from said rate of pressure change.
