1. A system for communicating data between a central station and subscribers located at different distances from the central station with the data transmitted from the central station to the subscribers being in a television format composed of sequentially occurring television frames wherein the frames consist of television scan lines formed of the data comprising:

  • means for generating, as part of television frames, television scan lines composed of data with all of the data of part of a line or of an entire individual television scan line being preassigned to a respective individual subscriber, the through-put data rate for a subscriber being determined by the portion of a line or number of lines being preassigned to the subscriber;

    means coupled to said generating means for identifying individual television scan lines so as to enable the generation of said television lines with data destined for respective subscribers;

    means for transmitting said television frames to the subscribers; and
