1. An ion sensing electrode, comprising:

  • a plastic tube having a proximal end, a distal end, a first lumen, a second lumen, an outer wall surrounding said first and second lumens and an inner wall separating said first and second lumens, said first lumen extending to the distal end of said tube, said second lumen extending only to a first point proximal to the distal end of said tube, a portion of said tube extending from the distal end of said tube only to a second point distal to said first point impregnated with an ion selective material;

    electrode gel filling said first and second lumens;

    sealing means for sealing the distal end of said first lumen, the distal end of said second lumen open to the exterior of said tube; and

    first and second electrodes inserted in the first and second lumens of said tube.
