A transparent display material which is resistant toward electrochemical reduction, which comprises a conducting layer composition of tin oxide or indium oxide or a mixture thereof and at least one metal selected from copper, silver, gold, iron, cobalt, nickel, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium and platinum or a mixture thereof at a concentration from about 10-3 to 3 percent by weight relative to the tin oxide and/or indium oxide.
