A method for improving and promoting the healing of osseous tissue in an animal which comprises implanting at the site of the broken osseous tissue an effective amount of a biodegradable copolymer-proteolipid material, said material consisting essentially of from 1 to 5 weight percent of the mucopeptide-N-acetylmuramoylhydrolase:

  • phosphatidyl inositol 4,5-diphosphate, incorporated into from 95 to 99 weight percent of the biodegradable copolymer, 50;

    50 poly(L)(-)lactide co-glycolide.
