A method of treatment of the human or warm-blooded animal body to combat toxic proteins or peptides in the bloodstream, said proteins or peptides being selected from the group consisting of fungal toxins, venoms and bacterial exotoxins, said method comprising administering to said infected body an effective amount for inactivating the toxic proteins or peptides of a compound of formula (I) ##STR7## wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a group of formula II ##STR8## in which R1 is as defined above.

Compounds of formula (I) ##STR1## [wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a group of formula II ##STR2## in which R1 is as defined above] and pharmaceutical compositions thereof may be administered to humans or warm-blooded animals to combat toxic proteins or peptides, e.g. venoms, fungal toxins and bacterial exotoxins, in the bloodstream.

A method of treatment of the human or warm-blooded animal body to combat toxic proteins or peptides in the bloodstream, said proteins or peptides being selected from the group consisting of fungal toxins, venoms and bacterial exotoxins, said method comprising administering to said infected body an effective amount for inactivating the toxic proteins or peptides of a compound of formula (I) ##STR7## wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a group of formula II ##STR8## in which R1 is as defined above.
