1. In a photographic printer of the type wherein a web of photographic material is advanced to and from an exposure station by drive means and having means for selectively marking individual exposure areas of said photographic material, the improvement wherein said marking means comprises:

  • thermally activated marking tape means;

    thermal print element means for selectively applying thermal energy to portions of said tape means; and

    means establishing engagement between said photographic material and said tape means for driving said tape means past said thermal print element means on movement of said photographic material.
