1. An ion selective measuring electrode device comprising an ion selective element having metal ions which during operation of the electrode device are exchanged with other ions of a species to which the ion selective element shows selectivity, the metal ions being of a species different from said other ion species, said ion selective element comprising a glass membrane, an electrical connection, and a solid material for providing electrical contact between the ion selective element and the electrical connection, the solid material comprising a solid crystalline material for incorporating or giving off ions of said metal ion species as an intercalation electrode.
