1. A reference liquid-containing calibration cell for the calibration of a sensor for measuring a gaseous or non-gaseous constituent parameter of a fluid, comprising a chamber containing a reference liquid, wherein said chamber is sealed to prevent loss of said reference liquid, and wherein said chamber includes:

  • (a) means for inletting gas into the chamber, the gas-inletting means including a first semi-permeable membrane permeable to a gaseous fluid constituent but impermeable to said reference liquid and non-gaseous reference constituents in the reference liquid;

    (b) means for placing a sensor in communication with a reference constituent present in said reference liquid, said means comprising a port sealed by a second semi-permeable membrane permeable to the gaseous fluid constituent but impermeable to said reference liquid and non-gaseous reference constituents present in the reference liquid; and

    (c) means for venting gas from the chamber.
