Keyless entry system for automotive devices with feature for giving caution for locking wireless code transmitter in vehicle
First Claim
1. A keyless entry system for an automotive vehicle lock device for selectably actuating the lock device to either of a first locked position and a second unlocked position, comprising:
- an electrical actuator associated with said lock device and responsive to a control signal to reverse the position of said lock device;
a manual switch;
a transmitter for transmitting a radio signal indicative of a unique code which identifies the transmitter, when said manual switch is operated and in response to a demand signal received by said transmitter;
a controller producing said demand signal in response to manual operation of said manual switch for activating said transmitter, said controller operable for receiving said radio signal from said transmitter, comparing the unique code indicated by said radio signal with a preset code, and producing said control signal when said unique code matches said preset code; and
a transmitter-locking alarm means, associated with said controller, for detecting when said transmitter is locked in the vehicle and producing an alarm in such cases.

Abstract
A keyless entry system can lock and unlock an automotive vehicle door, a trunk lid, a glove box and/or a steering column without an ignition key. The system comprises a transmitter producing a radio signal indicative of a preset unique code, and a controller receiving the radio signal and performing desired locking or unlocking operation when the code from the transmitter matches a preset code. A manual switch is provided to order the transmitter to transmit the code-indicative radio signal to the controller. The transmitter encloses a battery acting as a power source. Locking the transmitter in the vehicle is detected by detecting that the code signal level remains substantially unchanged for a given period of time after the vehicle is locked. In such cases, an alarm is produced to remind the driver to remove the transmitter from the vehicle cabin by operating the manual switch to open the door. An optional feature disables the keyless entry system if the driver fails the retrieve the transmitter after the alarm.

13. A keyless entry system for an automotive vehicle for operating one of a plurality of vehicle devices including a door lock device which is selectively operated to either a first locked position and a second unlocked position, comprising:
-
a plurality of electrical actuators respectively associated with the corresponding vehicle devices and responsive to a control signal to operate said corresponding vehicle device to a desired position, said actuators including a door lock actuator for operating a vehicular door lock between a first locked position and a second unlocked position; a plurality of manual switches, each operating one of the corresponding vehicle devices, said manual switches including a door lock switch manually operable for reversing the position of said door lock actuator between said first locked position and said second unlocked position; a detector for detecting the first locked position of the door to produce a detector signal; a transmitter operable in response to each of a first and second demand signal to output a first and second radio signal, respectively, each radio signal indicative of a unique code which identifies the transmitter; a controller producing a first demand signal in response to manual operation of one of said manual switches, and operable for receiving said first radio signal from said transmitter, comparing the unique code indicated by said first radio signal with a preset code, and producing said control signal when said unique code matches said preset code, said controller including means responsive to manual operation of one of said manual switches for identifying one of said actuators and operating said identified actuator for operating one of the vehicle devices corresponding to the manual switch operated, said controller being responsive to said detector signal for producing a second demand signal for testing whether a second radio signal is received in response thereto, and detecting said second radio signal in a period of time longer than a given period after transmitting said second signal for producing an alarm signal; and a transmitter-locking alarm means, associated with said controller, and producing an alarm in response to said alarm signal. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
