Abstract

A compound of formula (I): ##STR1## or a salt thereof; where Z represents a heterocyclic ring and R² and R³ are independently selected from hydrogen, nitrile, CONH₂ and SO₂ R⁴ wherein R⁴ is optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl or R² and R³ together form an optionally substituted methylene group or a bond, intermediates, compositions and insecticidal and nematocidal use.

Claims

1. A compound of formula (IA):

##STR82## or a salt thereof;

wherein one of X or Y is oxygen and the other is NR¹ where R¹ is alkyl, aralkyl or acryl; and

R², and R³ together form an optionally substituted methylene group or a bond.

2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R¹ is methyl, ethyl or benzyl.

3. A compound according to claim 1 wherein X is oxygen, Y is >

NCH₃ and R² and R³ together form the group ##STR83##

4. A compound according to claim 1 wherein X is oxygen, Y is >

NCH₃ and R² and R³ together form the group ##STR84##

5. A compound according to claim 1 wherein X is oxygen, Y is >

NCH₃ and R² and R³ together form a bond.

6. A compound according to claim 1 wherein X is >

NCH₃, Y is oxygen and R² and R³ together form a bond.

7. An insecticidal or nematocidal composition comprising a compound of formula (IA) as defined in claim 1 in combination with an agriculturally acceptable carrier.

8. A method of killing or controlling insect or nematode pests which method comprises administering to the insect or to a locus thereof an effective amount of a compound of formula (IA) as defined in claim 1.
