1. A power steering control apparatus for a vehicle comprising:
- means for detecting a steering force applied to a steering wheel and providing an output signal representative of the steering force;
means for detecting a steering angle of the vehicle wheels and providing an output signal representative of the steering angle;
an actuator operatively associated with a steering mechanism for the vehicle heels, with the steering wheel also being operativley associated with the steering mechanism; and
means operatively associated with the actuator for controlling continuously the actuator in accordance with speed of the vehicle, the steering force output signal and the steering angle output signal to provide an assistant steering force and further in accordance with the steering angle output signal to provide an assistant restoring force, said controlling means controlling said actuator in accordance with a function having an offset with respect to said steering force so as to provide a dead region of said assistant steering force with respect to said steering force and an increasing ratio of said assistant steering force to said steering force with an increase of said steering force.
