1. A phototransistor signal detection circuit with ambient light compensation, the phototransistor current being a function only of incident light, comprising:

  • first means for generating an ambient signal corresponding to the ambient output of the phototransistor;

    second means for generating an injection current dependent only upon the ambient signal; and

    means for injecting the injection current at the collector of the phototransistor during excitation of the phototransistor by light in addition to ambient light, whereby the collector voltage is adjusted for ambient conditions.
