1. A method for identifying a reagent test device having an electrically conductive region and calibrating a reagent test device measuring instrument for the identified reagent test device comprisingcontacting a conductive region of a reagent test device in a first location with electrical probes to make a first resistance or conductance measurement signal, contacting the same or a different conductive region of said reagent test device in a second location with electrical probes to make a second resistance or conductance measurement signal, ratioing the first and second measurement signals, andtransmitting the ratioed signals to an instrument, thereby identifying the reagent test device and calibrating said instrument.
