1. Process for charging a reversible electrochemical generator including of a plurality of cells which are electrically in series, each of said cells comprising a zinc negative electrode and a positive electrode between which circulates a basic electrolyte containing solubilized zinc, said process comprising the steps of:

  • causing the electrolyte in the cells to circulate successively from one cell to the next, applying to said electrodes a charging current forming a succession of approximately rectangular charging pulses, and periodically reversing the direction of circulation of the electrolyte during said charging step.
