1. A device for providing sustained, prolonged release of a chemoattractant to cells in a surrounding biological medium and for trapping cells attracted by said chemoattractant, said device comprising:

  • (a) a biocompatible non-inflammatory body comprising said chemoattractant sequestered therein, said body providing sustained prolonged release of said chemoattractant from at least a portion thereof, and(b) a cell trap comprising a non-inflammatory wettable material attached to said body, chemoattractant released from said body being transmitted through said trap, and cells attracted by said chemoattractant released from said body being trapped by and retained within said trap.
