1. A process for preparing a sintered magnet, comprising the steps of:

  • (a) press molding a magnetic powder into a compact in an applied magnetic field, said compact having coordinates (X/Sx, Y/Sy, Z/Sz) where Sx, Sy and Sz are predetermined factors of shrinkage occurring in a magnetization direction and directions perpendicular to the magnetization direction upon subsequent sintering, and(b) sintering the compact into a sintered magnet having a major axis and an axis of easy magnetization oriented at an angle to the major axis, the sintered magnet having coordinates (X, Y, Z) with X axis aligned with the axis of easy magnetization of the sintered magnet.
