1. A self-contained device for mounting on the heart during surgery for monitoring the electrical activity of the heart during cardioplegic arrest, comprising:

  • plunge electrode means for mounting said device on the heart and picking up potentials from the heart;

    power supply means;

    microvoltage signal amplification means for amplifying potentials picked up by said plunge electrode; and

    display means responsive to said amplification means for indicating the presence of said potentials.
