An anti-reflection optical article having excellent stain resistance, scratch resistance and processability, which comprises a substrate, a single-layer or multi-layer anti-reflection film at least the outermost layer of which being composed of silicon dioxide and which is formed on the substrate by the PVD method, and a silanol-terminated polysiloaxane having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 1,000,000 formed on the surface of the anti-reflection film, wherein the surface reflectance of the optical article is lower than 3% and the stationary contact angle to water is at least 60°

An anti-reflection optical article, which comprises a substrate, a single-layer or multi-layer anti-reflection film having a surface film composed of an inorganic substance, which is formed on the substrate, and a coating of an organic substance containing a curing material formed on the surface of the anti-reflection film, wherein the surface reflectance of the optical article is lower than 3% and the stationary contact angle to water is at least 60°.
