Method for implanting retainers and implants in cattle
First Claim
1. A process for implantation of an implant in an animal including the steps of positioning an implant and retainer in a side by side substantially abutting relationship, injecting said implant and said retainer into the animal such that said implant and retainer are disjoined from one another such that said retainer and implant move in only one direction into the animal, and locking the retainer and implant substantially against the hide of the animal.

Abstract
A retainer for cattle implants comprising a main body portion and a plurality of retention elements capable of implantation into cattle along with the implant itself. An injector and new process of implanting is also disclosed wherein a double acting trigger mechanism on an injector properly loads a retainer and implant into a needle and then injects the retainer and implant into the animal.

4. A process for implantation of a growth hormone implant in an animal comprising the steps of:
-
(1) Confining the portion of the animal to be implanted; (2) Penetrating the skin with a needle of an injector; (3) Loading both a retainer and the implant into the injector such that said retainer and implant are in a substantially abutting relationship; (4) Injecting the implant and retainer into the animal such that said implant and retainer are disjoined from one another; (5) Locking the retainer and implant against the hide of the animal; and (6) Withdrawing the needle of the injector from the animal. - View Dependent Claims (5)
