1. In a method of displaying on a video screen an image of a subject with a new haistyle, the method comprising:
- producing first video data representative of a plurality of available hairstyles;
producing second video data representative of at least the face and present hairstyle of the subject;
displaying on the screen images of at least the face and present hairstyle based on the second video data, said images also including a hairline representing a boundary between the face and present hairstyle;
removing from the screen at least the image of those portions of the present hairstyle which are beyond the boundary of the face;
displaying on the screen based on the first video data an image of the new hairstyle selected from the plurality of available hairstyles; and
positioning the images of the face and the new hairstyle together on the screen.

Abstract
A method for previewing a subject on a computer screen. Prior to such preview, a plurality of new hairstyles is stored in a disk associated with the computer. The subject'"'"'s face is outlined and the subject'"'"'s hair is removed and replaced with one of the new hairstyles stored in the computer'"'"'s databank. Various modifications can be made to the image of the subject with the new hairstyle to complete the picture. A graphic printer provides a hardcopy of the subject with the new hairstyle.

producing first video data representing a selected hairstyle; modifying the first video data to adjust at least the size of the selected hairstyle, the modified first video data representing the new hairstyle; producing second video data representing at least a face and present hairstyle of the subject; and causing the sequential display on the screen of; images of the face and present hairstyle at the same time; images of the face and new hairstyle separated from each other; and images of the new hairstyle and the face joined together. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11)
