1. A dielectric transmission line for transmitting electromagnetic waves into free space comprising:

  • a core of expanded, porous polytetrafluoroethylene,said core having a non-metallic cladding thereover,one end portion of said transmission line configured to emit electromagnetic waves directly into free space,said core having a decreasing dielectric constant proceeding axially toward said one end portion, andsaid cladding having a decreasing dielectric constant proceeding axially toward said one end portion.
