A combustion chamber assembly in a two-cycle, internal combustion engine for improving combustion of injected fuel, the engine having a cylinder and at least one piston reciprocatable in the cylinder with the piston and cylinder defining in part a toroidal combustion chamber, the assembly including a plurality of fuel injector nozzles spaced around the cylinder with fuel passages directed tangentially toward the chamber in an arrangement that enhances the toroidal, swirling, compressed air flow during fuel injection, the injector having means for selectively controlling the fuel delivery and fuel timing to each injector nozzle.
