Abstract

Disclosed is an upright-type electric vacuum cleaner which comprises a suction port body provided with a rotary brush and a main body case supported tiltably on the suction port body. Improvements are made in details such as the arrangement for supporting the main body case in the suction port body, the arrangements of mounting a handle onto the main body case, the configuration of a main body duct, the arrangement of a rotary brush, the arrangement of a cover of the main body case, and the arrangement of a T-shaped joint for connecting the main body duct and a dust filter means, thereby increasing the strength and rigidity of each of these parts and improving the performance of the vacuum cleaner.

Claims

1. An upright-type electric vacuum cleaner comprising:

a main body case having a chamber accomodating an electrically-operated blower, a bag compartment for accomodating a dust filtering means, a cord reel chamber for accomodating a power supply cord wound onto a cord reel, and a suction port body for accomodating a rotary brush driven by a motor which drives said blower and for tiltably supporting said main body case, wherein said suction port body is constituted by a front frame with a rotary brush mounted thereon and a base frame with rear wheels mounted thereon, hollow bosses of said main body case concentric with a rotary shaft of said blower are pivotally supported on said base frame between said front frame and said base frame by a downwardly open semicircular bearing portion on said front frame and an upwardly open semicircular bearing portion on said base frame.

A vacuum cleaner according to claim 1, wherein a plastic cover allowing access to a belt for imparting a driving force from said blower to a rotary brush is provided on the underside of said base frame, and said cover is formed integrally with a rotary shaft provided on one edge of said cover, with a projection for positioning, and with an engaging claw provided on a second edge opposite to said one edge, and said base frame is formed with recesses to engage with said rotary shaft, said projection, and said retaining claw on said cover, respectively.

A vacuum cleaner according to claim 1, wherein a downwardly open space is defined in said front frame by a front wall, side walls and a partition wall provided transversely behind said rotary brush, a metallic bottom plate having a suction opening is provided in said lower opening of said space, said bottom plate has at the peripheral edge thereof flange means abutting against the outer surface of the lower edge portion of the front wall and the side walls of said front frame, at least one projection provided on said edge of said bottom plate to engage rotatably with a recess provided in said front wall of said front frame, and two vertical walls provided on said bottom plate to clamp said partition wall of said front frame.

5. A vacuum cleaner according to claim 1, wherein a cover mounted detachably on the front surface of said main body case has on the inner surface of the side wall thereof ribs with a T-shaped cross section extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of said main body case.

A vacuum cleaner according to claim 1, wherein a mounting plate having an opening is secured in the inlet portion of said dust filtering means, said mounting plate is adapted to be mounted detachably on said main body case via a piece of airtight packing, a surface of said airtight packing abutting against said mounting plate has an annular flat portion and an annular lip portion disposed on the outside of said flat portion and bending orthogonally outwardly in the direction of said mounting plate, and a surface of said airtight packing opposed to said mounting plate has a cylindrical inner surface fitting with a cylindrical duct member to be connected to said dust filter means.

A vacuum cleaner according to claim 1, wherein inwardly projecting ribs are providing in said cord reel chamber of said main body case, a cord reel support base which has an electric contact corresponding to an electrical contact of said cord reel and rotatably supports said cord reel is provided on said ribs, and a power control circuit plate for controlling the power consumption of said vacuum cleaner is in a space below said support base.

A vacuum cleaner according to claim 1, wherein means for stopping the rotation of said cord reel is provided and has a button supported by a flexible thin-walled rib formed in said main body case, and a cord reel enterance member located below said rib and mounted detachably on said main body case to restrict the bending of said thin-walled rib.

A vacuum cleaner according to claim 1, wherein a horizontally elongated lamp chamber accommodating an illumination lamp is provided in a partitioned room located at the upper portion of the blower chamber, said partitioned room having an inlet port and an outlet port for passing a part of the exhaust air from the blower through the lamp chamber, and electric wires for said illumination lamp are introduced into the lamp chamber through the inlet port.

4. An upright-type electric vacuum cleaner comprising:

a main body case having an electrically-operated blower chamber, a bag compartment for accommodating a dust filtering means, and a cord reel chamber for accomodating a power supply cord wound onto a cord reel; and

a suction port body for accommodating a rotary brush driven by a motor of said blower and for tiltably supporting said main body case, wherein a main body duct is rotatably connected inside one of a pair of hollow bosses of said main body case to a suction port duct disposed in said suction port body and includes a first cylindrical portion fitting with an inner surface of said hollow boss, a second cylindrical portion having a diameter smaller than that of said first cylindrical portion and engaging with said suction port duct, a first stepped portion in a region where a diameter of the suction port duct abruptly changes abutting against the inner surface of a side wall of said main body case surrounding said hollow boss, and a second stepped portion in a region where a diameter of the suction port duct abruptly changes abutting a partion wall located between said blower chamber in said main body case and said bag compartment.
