1. An osmotic device comprising:

  • (a) a wall comprising an annealed subcoat and an overcoat, annealed at about 35°

    C. to 65°

    C. for 10 to 72 hours, wherein,(1) the subcoat comprises a member selected from the group consisting of a cellulose ether, a cellulose ester and a cellulose ester-ether;

    a plasticizer; and

    an emulsifier comprising a member selected from the group consisting of nonionic, anionic and cationic emulsifiers; and

    (2) the overcoat comprises a member selected from the group consisting of hydroxypropylcellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, carboxymethylcellulose and methylcellulose; and

    , optionally, plasticizers;

    which wall surrounds;

    (b) a compartment;

    (c) a therapeutically effective amount of drug in the compartment; and

    ,(d) at least one passageway in the wall connecting the exterior with the interior of the device for delivering the drug over time.
