Method of producing a flexible optical wave guide
First Claim
1. A method of producing a flexible optical wave guide consisting of a core made of a high refractive index transparent rubbery elastomer and a clad made of a low refractive index rubbery elastomer, which comprises extruding a high viscosity transparent core material through a nozzle, applying a low viscosity transparent liquid coating material to the extruded transparent core material, curing the core material and the coating material, applying a liquid clad material to the outer periphery of the coating material, and curing the clad material.

Abstract
A pressure-sensitive sensor comprises an optical wave guide consisting of a core and a clad, and a light emitting means and a light receiving means each connected to the optical wave guide. The core is made from a transparent material having a refractive index somewhat larger than that of a material constituting the clad and selected from chloroprene rubber, urethane rubber, silicone rubber, fluorine rubber, acrylic rubber, ethylene-propylene rubber, ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer rubber and epichlorohydrin rubber.

7. A method of producing a flexible optical wave guide consisting of a core made of a high refractive index transparent rubbery elastomer and a clad made of a low refractive index rubbery elastomer, which comprises preparing a clad tube made of a flexible hollow tube body and provided at its inner face with an intermediate layer, pouring a liquid core material having a refractive index larger than that of said intermediate layer into the inside of said clad tube, and curing said core material by heating or through an irradiation of ultraviolet ray, radiation or electron beam.

8. A method of producing a flexible optical wave guide consisting of a core made of a high refractive index transparent rubbery elastomer and a clad made of a low refractive index rubbery elastomer, which comprises simultaneously extruding a liquid core material and a liquid clad material through concentrically arranged nozzles, crosslinking the extruded clad material through an irradiation of ultraviolet ray, radiation or electron beam, and curing the extruded core material by heating.
