1. Apparatus for removing a pacemaker lead implanted in a heart, comprising:

  • stylet means insertable into a longitudinal passageway of said implanted lead for controlling movement of said lead;

    coil means having a distal end attached about a distal end of said stylet means and operable for securing said distal end of said stylet means to said lead when said stylet means is inserted in said passageway; and

    catch means attached to and extending from a proximal end of said coil means and having a segment folded back thereon for engaging said lead when said coil means is operated.
