1. A method of making dental plaque observable to the naked eye comprising contacting teeth having plaque adhered thereto with FD&
- C Red No. 40 dye in solution in a quantity effective, at a concentration of at least 0.05% by weight to stain said plaque and render said plaque visible at wave lengths of light visible to said naked eye, exposing the teeth to visible wavelengths of light, and then observing, with the naked eye, for any stained dental plaque, if present, on said teeth.
