A wood-type golf club head comprising an outer shell consisting of a fiber reinforced thermosetting resin having the shape of a wooden golf club, a metal sole provided on a lower surface of said outer shell, and a core placed on an upper surface of said sole so as to be buried in the interior of said outer shell, said core being molded from a mixture of a thermoplastic resin selected from the group consisting of polyamide, polybutylene terephthalate, polypropylene, ABS and hard vinyl chloride and a metal powder having a high specific gravity selected from the group consisting of zinc, lead and tungsten.
