Electric power supply system for motor vehicle
First Claim
1. A power supply system for a motor vehicle equipped with an electric system including a first group of electrical loads having a relatively high rated voltage and a second group of electrical loads having a relatively low rated voltage, comprising:
- a generator, provided with a voltage regulator, for producing an output voltage substantially equal to said high rated voltage at an output terminal, said output terminal being connected to said first group of electrical loads;
a switching element interposed between said output terminal of said generator and said second group of electrical loads; and
a duty cycle control circuit for generating a rectangular waveform signal having a predetermined duty ratio for turning on said switching element with a predetermined duty factor.

Abstract
A power supply system for a motor vehicle includes a battery of high voltage for a load system rated at 48V and a high-voltage generator for charging the battery. Loads rated at high voltage are supplied with electric power directly from the battery. A power MOS IC element connected in parallel with the battery is controlled in accordance with a predetermined duty factor for producing at an output terminal thereof an average low voltage of 24V or 12V, wherein low-voltage loads are supplied with the low output voltage.
