housing means to seal-in beta cells and electrode assembly means adapted to be proximate said beta cells, said electrode assembly means being a part of said sensing means;
an analog to digital converter connected to said sensing means to convert an analog signal from said sensing means into a digital signal;
a microprocessor means connected to said converter to receive said digital signal; and
a display means connected to said microprocessor means to receive and display a read-out representative of said insulin secreting activity of said beta cells.
