Abstract

A method to form a carpet tile into a configuration for use on a stair riser. This method involves measuring the stair riser and using this measurement to score the pile on the face of a tile. The tile is then bent to a 90 angle and a nose guard adhesively placed over the bent or nose portion of the title to provide a preformed product. This product then can be taken on the job, placed into position and readily tacked or glued down to provide the stairs with a tile product which is comparable to the adjacent tiled areas and readily tacked or glued down to provide the stairs with a tile product which is comparable to the adjacent tiled areas.

Claims

1. A preformed stair riser carpet tile product comprising:

a carpet tile having a pile surface face and a plastic-like backing, one portion of said tile being bent along a bend line and extending substantially perpendicular to a second portion of said tile, a score line in the face of the carpet tile along the bend line thereof and a nose guard member adhered to said tile over said score line.

2. The tile product of claim 1 wherein said nose guard is a plastic-like material adhered with a hot-melt adhesive.

3. The tile of claim 2 wherein the face of said tile is looped yarns.

4. The tile of claim 2 wherein the face of said tile is cut pile yarns.
