1. A scarf for tranferring heat from or to the neck areas of the wearer comprising:

  • an elongated band of a fabric material flat folded along its length axis to form an inner layer engagable with the neck areas and an outer layer overlapping said innermeans for transversely securing said inner and outer layers together at one or more longitudinally spaced locations in the medial portion of the scarf, thereby defining at least one medial pocket for reception of a heat absorbing or heat emitting material;

    said pocket having an open area in the fabric material forming its inner wall; and

    a thin walled sheet of flexible material secured to said fabric material to close said open area and lie adjacent the neck areas of the wearer, said thin walled sheet having substantially greater heat transfer properties than said fabric material.
