1. A magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support having thereon a first magnetic layer and a second magnetic layer in sequence, said first and second magnetic layers containing ferromagnetic powder and a binder, wherein a fatty acid ester (A) is contained in the first magnetic layer in an amount of from 0.3 to 1.2 g/100 g ferromagnetic powder and a fatty acid ester (B) is contained in the second magnetic layer in an amount of from 1.3 to 2.5 g/100 g ferromagnetic powder wherein said Fatty Acid Ester (A) is defined by ##STR7## wherein R1 is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 11 to 21 carbon atoms, and R2 is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and said Fatty Acid Ester (B) is defined by ##STR8## wherein R3 is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 11 to 21 carbon atoms, and R4 is a saturated divalent hydrocarbon group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, R5 is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and n is an integer of 1 to 7.
