1. A guide for performing a medical task during a medical procedure, wherein an instrument must contact a patient tissue at an appropriate location, and wherein a reference point corresponding to a three-dimensional tissue geometry of the patient tissue, and corresponding to a surface of a landmark, is determined prior to performing the medical task, the guide comprising:
- positioning means, having a predefined positioning surface, for positioning the guide to remain in a fixed location with respect to the landmark surface, wherein the positioning surface has a three-dimensional configuration corresponding to the reference point; and
orienting means, fixedly connected to the positioning means, for guiding the instrument to contact the patient tissue at the appropriate location when the guide is in the fixed location.
