1. A superconducting strand for alternating current, comprising:

  • a non-magnetic core member;

    superconducting wires of a number not less than 13, each superconducting wire having a diameter smaller than that of said core member and said superconducting wires being stranded on the outer peripheral surface of said core member in a single-layered form; and

    electrically insulative layer means interposed between said core member and said stranded superconducting wires.
