1. An electrical machine having a cylindrical rotor rotatable about a central axis and including circumferentially spaced magnetically permeable pole bodies, the rotor including electrical windings within axially elongated slots, the machine comprising:

  • a coolant tube provided in each slot for defining a liquid coolant passage passing axially along the slot and whereby the liquid coolant is electrically insulated and separated from the windings; and

    a rotatable liquid transfer coupling connected with the liquid coolant tube for transferring liquid to and from the coolant tube during machine operation.
