A method of forming an optical signal distribution system of the type comprising an electronic substrate having a principal surface and at least one optical component on the principal surface, the method comprising the step of placing at least one preformed optical waveguide onto the principal surface of the electronic substrate wherein an optical signal may be passed to or from the optical component through said optical waveguide.
