Abstract
A package is provided for receiving and retaining at least one resilient surgical suture arranged in a coil configuration. The package is formed with a loading port which defines a radially unobstructed passageway through which a resilient surgical suture coil may be loaded and thereafter caused to uncoil and expand radially outward into a retaining channel. The package may include needle park means for securely maintaining armed sutures in a manner for ready removal.

inserting said at least one resilient suture coil concentrically into said annular loading port; and causing said at least one resilient suture to uncoil and expand radially outward into said annular channel member.

A method of loading at least one armed resilient suture in a coil configuration into a suture retainer package, said suture retainer package having a top portion and a bottom portion, said top portion having a loading port formed therein defining a radially unobstructed passageway for receiving said at least one suture coil into said suture retainer package, said method comprising the steps of:
